How I’ve optimized my Chyrpe dating profile

The first picture shown to me on Chyrpe was a charming guy standing at the beach with the most gorgeous smile on his face. A beautiful man with positive energy that loves to travel? Exactly up on my alley. Of course I gave him a like, immediately followed by a happy dance in my flat. Alone. But charming beach guy didn’t like me back, I prefer to think the algorithm hasn’t showed him my profile yet. After some days had passed, my inner turmoil still ongoing, I did what every rational human being does: Reach out to Chyrpe’s data team to help me improve my profile.

“First and most important step is to maximize the number of pictures on your profile”, told me the Chyrpe Data Lady, with a funny accent I coulnd’t quite pinpoint. Apparently people with 6 photos get twice as many likes as people who only include one. As I had already struggled so much just to decide which six pictures best reflect my life, my values, my hobbies, my personality, my face, my body and places I’ve visited, I had already maxed out the foto count.

Improving your bio

Secondly, the bio. “Our numbers are clear: The more characters you write in your bio the more likes you get. How long is your bio?”, the Chyrpe woman asked me. I squirmishly admitted to have written two half-baked sentences, accompanied by a compilation of my favourite emojis. “Emojis are great, depending upon which one you include, it can give you five times as many likes as an average profile”, said the Data Woman. Popular emojis include ❤️, 👑, 😄, 🌹 or 😊. I asked her if I get to include a peach and cucumber emoji too, but she said no. How unfortunate.

Many people are able to improve their bio by writing about their hobbies. “Our global analysis based on nearly a million users show that words such as “reading”, “gardening”, “sports” or “travelling” can boost a profile by up to 40%”, the Lady explained. I did as I was told and decided to brag about the insane number of countries I had already visited (65, thanks for asking), the marathon I ran last May (thanks for not asking about the time though) and that I love plants even though they usually grow in a rather…crispy way. The Data Lady approved and we moved on to the prompts.

How to handle prompts

“As Chyrpe’s data guru, why on earth do so many people write about eggs in their prompts?”, I genuinely asked. It’s so popular because “What would you make your partner every morning for breakfast” is the first prompt of the list to choose from, she replied, “Yet surprisingly, you don’t receive most likes by writing about eggs. Globally, Coffee, Smoothie and Açai are most popular.” I remember that time I was at the beach in Paraty, eating Açai and getting nervous because a beautiful Brazilian man had winked at me. Panicking, I pretended not to see him. Well, I can definitely relate to people preferring Açai for breakfast. On that note, apart from using the prompts, including further information on things such as dietary, drinking or smoking habits can also help a profile. “If you love sports, include it. It gives you more likes than the average profiles. If you’re not a fan of it, also put it. It will boost your likes. Only the people who occasionally workout or leave the field empty get less likes than average likes”, the woman explained. So I included all of that information too. At this point, I was quite happy with my profile, I thanked the smart Chyrpe woman for her help and continued my quest on the dating app Chyrpe.

Also, charming beach guy, if you see the profile of a woman with a lama hat, make sure to give it a like;)
